        • When is the best time to travel to Tibet?

          Generally speaking, whenever you go to Tibet, you would see unique charming sceneries.

          In spring (between March and May), the snow in Tibet is melting and the flowers are reaching their best season of a year, especially for the peach blossom in Nyingchi. Thousands of tourists will go to Nyingchi for the Peach Blossom Festival.

          In summer (between June and August), the peak season for tourism in Tibet is coming! Lots of students choose Tibet as their summer holiday destination. The weather is getting warmer, so tourists do not have wear heavy coat any more.

          In autumn (Between September and November), the foliage in Tibet is becoming red, which makes Tibet a paradise for photographer. There is not so much rainfall, so it will be safer for photographers to take photos on mountains, in valleys or beside rivers in Tibet. October is the best tome to climb the Mount Everest.

          In winter (between November and next February), tourists can still enjoy abundant sunshine in Tibet, although the weather is getting colder. It is the best time to admire blue sky and lakes and glacier in Tibet in winter, because the reflection of the sky on lakes or glacier is more clear due to the winter’s thin cloud.

        • How to avoid altitude sickness?

          It is almost impossible to avoid altitude sickness in Tibet. However, it is possible to lessen it. Please check out the methods to lessen the altitude sickness as below:

          Take a good rest. There is usually no sightseeing on the day you land in Tibet. Our tour guide and accompany you to your hotel to have a rest. It is suggested to stay in your hotel to take a good rest on the day you enter Tibet.

          Move slowly. Some tourists are very excited when they arrive in Tibet, so they may can’t help jumping or running. It is not helpful for acclimatization by doing that. They have to calm down and move slowly in order to lessen the altitude sickness.

          Take Acetazolamide. Taking Acetazolamide before you go to Tibet is helpful for lessening the altitude sickness. Please inquire your doctor for the quantity and other details about the medicine.

        • What should I pack for a Tibet tour?

          Heavy coat – You need to take heavy coat even if you travel to Tibet in summer due to the drastic temperature change between daytime and night in Tibet. The lowest temperature can reach 5 degree centigrade in some nights of August, the warmest month in Tibet.

          Mountaineering shoes – The wild world in Tibet is charming, so you need a pair of mountaineering shoes. Even if you wouldn’t go to wild areas, you still need a pair mountaineering shoes to climb the steps on the way the Potala Palace, which is located in the city of Lhasa.

          Sunglass and sunscreen – Lhasa enjoy a reputation of the “city of sunshine”, so it is important to avoid to getting burnt

          Other necessary items include kettle and medicine. Besides, we will prepare oxygen for you.

        • Can I go to the Mount Everest Base Camp in winter?

          Yes. In other seasons, the Mount Everest might be not so good as winter, because it might be too misty in other seasons, but in winter, there is almost no mist at all. During clear days in winter, you may see 5 giants on the view terrace of the Mount Everest Base Camp. These 5 giants are Everest, Lohtse, Makalu, Chooyu and Shishapangma.

          It is also easier for tourists to get used to the low temperature on the Everest in winter, because the temperature on the Everest is not so significantly different with the temperature in other places in Tibet.

        • Can I hike alone in Tibet?

          No, international tourists are not allowed to travel in Tibet alone. We have to respect the law made by Chinese government. And we do think international tourists need a tour guide in Tibet, because Tibet is a vast area with high altitude. If tourists have altitude sickness, they would need a local people to help them.

          The Mount Kailash hike is the most popular hiking route in Tibet, as well as the most dangerous one. The falling stones, extreme weather, high altitude and wild dogs can all be killers on the hiking route. If there isn’t a tour guide who know the area well, the adventure would be even more dangerous.

        • How to travel to Nepal from Tibet?

          Tourists could take a plane from Lhasa to Kathmandu or drive to Nepal along the Tibet-Nepal highway. Most tourists choose the latter, because they could stop for sightseeing during the car ride. The most popular tourist attractions along the highway include Potala Palace, Mount Everest Base Camp, Yamdrok Lake and Karola Glacier.

          Normally it takes 7 days to finish the car-ride and sightseeing and it would take one more day if you want to visit the Lake Namtso, which is to the north of Lhasa. Tourists will enter Nepal from the Gyirong Port on the 7th or 8th day.
